Mira 2 is a 2000lb-f (8.9 kN) engine designed and developed by students of the High Altitude Liquid Engine Team over the course of 3 years, the engine was successfully fired for the first time on December 16th, 2024.

The test fire was a success, the recorded pressures were within the expected range, and the engine remained intact after the test!
This test is a large step forward on the road to space for HALE. More test fires are expected in 2025 before Mira 2 powers HALE’s subscale test flight, planned for the Summer of 2025.
Successfully firing a bi-liquid propellant engine at the collegiate level is a feat not achieved by many, OSU AIAA congratulates the entire HALE team for their accomplishment.
